There have been amazing medical advances [医学进展] in the past hundred years. The potential to edit genes [编辑基因], build life-saving machines, and create vaccines [疫苗]that help prevent or stop diseases was unfathomable [深不可测的] before, but is today's reality [今天的现实]. And excitingly, both the scientific method and the speed at which life-saving medical breakthroughs are developed continue to advance [继续前进], partly thanks to the advent and use of artificial intelligence [人工智能] (AI) and machine learning [机器学习] (ML). In general, the life sciences industry [生命科学产业] is moving towards adopting digital tools [数字工具] across the continuum. While such devices may not necessarily be new, the scale at which they are being [他们的规模] implemented into healthcare has changed a lot, especiallysince the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. For example, we looked at the adoption of telehealth visits and moving away from the traditional office visit where appropriate. Some estimates suggest [一些估计性建议] that the pandemic [流行病] accelerated these trends for patients.
