The general rule of thumb is that when you have a verb as a first word in the question, the answer can simply be answered by following it up with the "same verb" in the answer.

Do Example:
Do you like to eat ice cream?
✅ Yes, I do (like to eat ice cream).

Common mistake...
Do you like to eat ice cream?
❌ Yes I am.

(You can also say "I like eating ice cream." or "I do like to eat ice cream." or even "I love eating ice cream." but for the sake of simplicity, if you're not sure which to use you can just follow this simple rule: "Do question?" "Do answer".)

Do Negative Example:
Do you like fishing?
✅ No, I don't.

Did (do past tense) example:
Did he go to work yesterday?
✅ Yes, he did. /No, he didn't.

Common mistake...
Did you go to work around 9 am this morning?
❌ Yes I do. (Make sure to also pay attention to tense, in this case the question is past tense so we also need to answer using past tense)
✅ Yes, I did.

Does example:
Does she like chocolate ice cream?
✅ Yes, she does. /No, she doesn't

Common mistakes...
Does you like to eat ice cream? (make sure not to use the wrong aux verb, "do" goes with "I, we, you they" and
"does" goes with "he, she, it"
❌Yes,  I does.

Does he like to eat cheese?
❌ Yes, he do.
✅ Yes, he does.

Be Example:
The same can be said for other verbs such as "be".

Are you hungry?
✅ Yes, I am.

Negative Be Example:
Is she tired?
✅ No she isn't tired/No, she's not tired.

As mentioned prior, we can follow the simple rule "Be question?" "Be Answer"

Have Example:
As you can probably guess, we can apply the same rule here "Have question?" "Have Answer"
Have you eaten lunch yet?
✅ Yes, I have. I ate at noon. /Yes, I've already eaten lunch.

Has she had her dinner?
✅ Yes, she has. (Remember when we have he/she/it to change "have" to "has")

Has it been an hour since we started?
✅ Indeed it has.

Common mistake:
Have you eaten lunch yet?
❌ Yes, I do/No, I don't.
.✅ Yes, I have. /Yes I did eat/(have) lunch. / I already ate

Negative Have Example:
Have you played football before?
✅ No I've never played it. / No I haven't.
