From Wednesday, Beijing residents [居民] who do not engage in [参与] social activities are no longer required to [不再要求] participate in community nucleic acid screenings [筛查] if they do not need to leave their homes, according to [依据] local authorities [地方当局].
This includes [包括] groups such as [例如] homebound seniors, children and people working or studying from home, said Xu Hejian, a spokesperson for the Beijing municipal government, at a press conference [新闻发布会] on Wednesdy.
The Chinese capital has been optimizing [优化] its COVID-19 control measures to minimize [减少] their impact on people's livelihoods [生计].
It has ordered closed management measures [封闭管理措施] to be lifted [被解除] in a timely manner [及时的] for eligible [符合条件的] residential complexes, and it has allowed virus-hit supermarkets to reopen after being closed for one day.
The city government has also banned [禁止] the barricading of building gates and residential-complex entries in high-risk areas, ordering passages to [命令做某事] remain [保持] clear for medical transportation, emergency escape and rescue [救援] requirements.
