The short answer to this question is......
It depends on the sentence!
The long answer is...👇

There's usually more than one way to express one idea and oftentimes those ways are interchangeable, though, not always.
Let's have a quick look at something that a lot of you have had corrected by us in the past months: a comparison of "due to", "since" and "because"🤓

First and foremost, they all can be translated into 由于, 因为.

But here're some slight differences in structural use that we'd like you to pay attention to:

▪️ due to + noun 后面跟名词
▪️ due to the fact that + clause 后面跟句子
▪️ since + clause (directly without introduction) 后面直接加句子不需要连词
▪️ because + clause 后面跟句子
▪️ because of + noun 后面跟名词

✅...due to the pandemic
✅...because of the pandemic
✅...due to the fact that there's a pandemic
✅...since there's a pandemic
✅ because there's a pandemic

❌..due to there's a pandemic
❌…since a pandemic
❌…because a pandemic

Here's a few examples for your reference:

▪️ This is to ensure the availability of seats, as there is limited availability due to world events.
▪️ Over the last year I've had to avoid travelling outside of my community a couple of times due to some small outbreaks in the surrounding areas.
▪️ Indeed, due to the recent outbreak, we have had to face some staff shortage issues, however, rest assured it's not going to affect the progress of our project!
▪️ I understand that deliveries are currently taking much longer than usual to get through due to the lockdown, so there's probably a better soluton.
▪️ I have discussed your request with our management team and we have agreed that we will do our utmost to accommodate your needs. However, due to the additional staff required and the fact that this falls outside the agreed scope of the contract, it will incur an additional cost.

Now, try changing those to "since" or "because" and share your answers and other examples or questions in the comment section below👇

Oh, by the way, let's not forget about their cousin 'as'

▪️ as + clause 后面跟句子

✅...as there's a pandemic
❌...as a pandemic

▪️ As we've been unable to identify the best route so far, it would be best to work on both routes in parallel.
