(as of June 15, 2022)
Though there has been no monkeypox [猴天花] cases in China yet, the country's health authority [卫生当局]  has issued guidelines on [发布指导方针] how to identify and treat the cases when they emerge  [出现].

China's National Health Commission disclosed [透露] on Wednesday that they have distributed the guidelines to local health authorities on June 10.
The guidelines said that monkeypox cases can be confirmed through viral culture or nucleic acid test like COVID-19.

Some symptoms [症状] of monkeypox may look like chickenpox, herpes simplex, measles and dengue fever but they are not at all the same diseases, the guidelines said.

People can catch the disease through close contact with [通过近距离接触...] patients, droplet [飞沫] from patients, contact with infected objects and vertical transmission [垂直传播] from mother to children.

All kinds of people are prone to [很容易(感染)..] infection, while those vaccinated against smallpox may have some level of immunity [免疫力].

Incubation period [潜伏期] of the monkeypox virus ranges from five to 21 days. Patients may initially have fever, with body temperature above 38.5 degrees Celsius. One to three days later, the patients may find rashes [发疹] on their faces, which will then spread to limbs [四肢].

Though there's not a specific drug for monkeypox, there are four kinds of treatment that will help the patients recover, including supportive therapy[支持疗法], treatment of complications [并发症治疗], supportive psychotherapy [支持性心理治疗] and traditional Chinese medicine, according to the guidelines.
The guidelines also said that all suspected cases [疑似病例] and confirmed cases should be isolated to prevent further infections.

More than 1,300 cases of the viral disease have been reported by about 30 countries, mostly in Europe, since early May.

Beijing CDC experts said that at present, the general population in China maintain a distance in crowded places, wear masks and wash their hands frequently. Avoiding contact with wild animals, especially sick or dead animals, and not eating undercooked [煮得不够熟的] meat can effectively reduce the risk of infection.

Several Chinese test kit [试剂盒] makers , according to the Global Times agency, said that they have developed nucleic acid test kits for monkeypox, which can be quickly put into mass production [大量生产] and on the domestic market [国内市场] once approved by the government.

Experts said that there are no technological problems in developing a vaccine against monkeypox and a rapid special review by China's drug administration could help the country develop a vaccine in roughly [大约] a year.

More than a dozen Chinese biotech companies have obtained the CE certification in the EU for nucleic acid test kits for monkeypox, and they have received some domestic and international orders.
